I had been on a trip to Michigan the weekend before Jessica’s due date, and had my trusty associate, Leighan ready as my backup photographer in case I didn’t make it back in time! But shew…I REALLY wanted to be there. I LOVE birth photography, and this one was extra special because they are some really precious friends of ours, and I just love me some Geist family!
I got some updates from Jessica throughout our trip, but mostly, it was Braxton Hicks contractions. We got back on Monday evening, July 23rd, and on Tuesday morning, I got a text that said she was having REAL contractions! Ha! We made it! 🙂
So, I got childcare lined up and on call, and didn’t hear much the rest of the day except that it might have been a false alarm and that she’ll let me know if they strengthen throughout the night. Then, I get a call from Justin. Contractions are strengthening and Jessica still seems fine, but they will probably head to the hospital in a little while…just keeping me updated.
“She’s an 8!!! Come come come”
Y’all, that text was at 8:16. I got to the hospital room at 8:45, and baby boy was here at 9pm!! THAT was a whirlwind, and so so exciting and sweet all at the same time! Justin was such a sweet support to Jessica, along with Jessica’s doula, Cali (from Open Heart Doula)! We were able to bring Big Sister and Big Brother in to meet their sweet Baby Brother the next morning, and IT. WAS. SO. PRECIOUS!!!
What an amazing day! I’m sure there are a lot more words I could say to tell the story, but I think photos really do speak for themselves!
